The Stanford Professional Publishing Courses
An intensive 7-day program for mid-career professionals in book and magazine publishing.

Main Course: July 11-19, 2009

Where do transformative ideas come from?

Not from staying in your office and juggling the details of your daily job. If you’re going to reinvent your publishing strategies for a digital future, if you’re going to hone your professional skills for a new media world, you need to stop. Take a breath. Step out of your silo. And learn to think in new ways.

The Stanford Professional Publishing Course
SPPC is not a conference. It is a week-long course designed to bring together mid-career publishing professionals--the rising stars of their companies--who intend to incubate new ideas and approaches that will help them lead their organizations through these turbulent times.

The Course exposes participants to advanced publishing strategies and new media models in a carefully balanced curriculum that includes both print and digital strategies. Because we are located in the heart of Silicon Valley, we infuse our Course with information and insights on emerging technologies related to the business of publishing.

Pre-Course for Internationals
The Pre-Course for Internationals is designed to give those coming from outside the United States a broader perspective on U.S. publishing, including evolving digital media. Also included in the Pre-Course are field trips to technology and publishing venues in and around Silicon Valley. The Pre-Course is open only to those accepted into the Main Course. U.S. participants may take the Pre-Course at their discretion.
